Yankee Stadium

Yankee Stadium guide

The current Yankee Stadium opened in 2009 across the street from the original, and it was built to echo the old ballpark: the limestone exterior, the frieze along the roof and the short porch in right field all deliberately recall the stadium it replaced. It holds around 46,000 for baseball and also hosts football, concerts and other events.

The seating is in three main levels plus the bleachers. The field level from first base round to third gives the closest view and carries the highest prices; the main and upper levels behind home plate are the best value for watching the whole game. The bleachers in right and left field are the loudest and cheapest seats, but you watch the infield at a long distance and the view of part of the field can be cut off by the batter's eye.

Monument Park, beyond the centre field wall, honours the club's greatest players and is usually open to ticket holders before the game. Arriving early to see it is the most common piece of advice regulars give visitors.

The subway is the easiest way in: the 161 St-Yankee Stadium station on the 4, B and D lines is right by the gates, and Metro-North stops at a station next to the ballpark. Parking garages around the stadium are expensive and slow to empty after the game. PickStub is an independent marketplace and is not affiliated with the stadium or any team that plays there.
