Fenway Park opened in 1912 and is the oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball. It is small, irregular and wedged into the streets of the Fenway neighbourhood, and its quirks are the reason people travel to see it. The most famous is the Green Monster, the very tall wall in left field, which now has seats on top of it.
The age of the park has consequences for buyers. Parts of the grandstand were built with support poles that block the view of home plate or the pitcher from some seats, and many grandstand seats face centre field rather than the infield, so you watch the game over your shoulder. Seats are also narrow by modern standards. Listings for obstructed seats are cheaper for a reason, and the seat map does not show the poles.
For an unobstructed view, the field boxes and loge boxes close to the infield are the safest choice, and the pavilion seats high above the infield give a full view from further away. The Monster seats are a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many fans; the view is unusual, looking down the line rather than at the plate.
The park is a short walk from Kenmore station on the Green Line, and Fenway station on the D branch is also close. Parking nearby is limited and expensive, and the surrounding streets close to traffic around game time. PickStub is an independent marketplace and is not affiliated with the ballpark or any team that plays there.
