About St. Louis Cardinals

Busch Stadium was built to look out at the city rather than to wall it off, and the view through the outfield gap towards the Gateway Arch and the downtown skyline is the park's signature. Seats along the third base side and behind home plate on the upper levels get the best of it, which is unusual: at most parks the view is a bonus of the expensive seats, and here it belongs to the cheaper elevated ones.

The park sits in the middle of downtown, within walking distance of hotels and of the light rail, which makes it one of the easier stadiums in the league to attend without a car. That also means the surrounding streets fill with people before first pitch rather than emptying out, and the district around the ballpark stays busy after the game.

St Louis crowds have a reputation for baseball attentiveness rather than for noise, which visitors notice: applause tends to follow the actual play rather than the scoreboard prompts. Whether you find that pleasant or subdued depends on what you want from a crowd.

Summer here is hot and humid in a way that dry-heat visitors underestimate, and the bowl holds it. Day games in July and August are genuinely demanding, shade is worth paying attention to when choosing a side of the park, and the upper deck catches whatever breeze exists.

Roughly three hours is the usual length, though baseball has no clock and extra innings answer to nobody's plans. PickStub is an independent marketplace and is not affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals, with Major League Baseball, or with Busch Stadium.
