About Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad are from San Sebastián, on the Basque coast close to the French border, and they play their home football at the Reale Arena in the Anoeta district of the city. It is a compact, fully enclosed ground, rebuilt in recent years to bring the stands in tight against the pitch after decades with a running track between the two.

A club's season splits roughly evenly between home and away, and the listings on this page cover both. So read the venue line on each one rather than assuming San Sebastián. A match here means a match Real Sociedad are playing in, and it may well be at the opposing club's ground, sold under that venue's rules and with an allocation the home club decides.

Kick-off times follow the Spanish league pattern. The date is fixed long ahead, but the time is only confirmed once broadcasters have chosen their slots, which can be a matter of weeks before the match. Late evening kick-offs are routine. The ticket stays valid whatever slot the fixture lands in, but a return flight booked against a guessed time does not.

If you do make it to San Sebastián, it is a short city and the ground is walkable from the centre, which is not something you can say about most modern stadiums. If you are heading to an away fixture instead, the usual applies at any large Spanish ground: arrive with time in hand, since visiting sections often funnel through one entrance, bring photo identification, and check the specific venue's rules on bags before you travel, because they are set by the home club rather than by the visitors.
