About Real Madrid CF

Real Madrid play their home football at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, on the Paseo de la Castellana in the middle of Madrid. The ground sits directly on top of a metro station, which makes it one of the more straightforward big stadiums in Europe to reach without a car, and it means the surrounding streets fill and empty quickly on either side of a match.

The bowl is steep and tiered, and the tier you buy into matters more than the exact seat number. Lower tiers put you close to the pitch with a flatter view across it, which suits anyone who wants to hear the game as much as watch it. Upper tiers sit further back and higher, and while faces get smaller the shape of the play gets much easier to read, which is why many regulars prefer them. Corners and behind-goal areas are usually the cheaper way in and carry more of the noise.

Spanish league fixtures work differently from most competitions when it comes to timing. Match dates are published well ahead, but the exact kick-off time is confirmed much closer to the day, once broadcasters have picked their slots. A fixture listed for a weekend can end up anywhere from early afternoon to late evening. Your ticket stays valid either way, but if you are travelling in, book flexibly and check the confirmed time before you commit to a return.

A matchday in Madrid tends to start late by most standards. Kick-offs after nine in the evening are routine, bars around the ground stay busy long after the final whistle, and the metro runs late enough to get you back. Bring photo identification, since entry checks at large Spanish grounds can ask for it, and be aware that stadium policy on bags and on what you can carry in changes from season to season.
