About Monster Jam

Monster Jam is a live motorsport series built around monster trucks, the custom machines with oversized wheels that have been part of American motorsport since the 1970s and 1980s. The series stages events in large stadiums and arenas across North America and other regions.

An event has two parts. First comes racing, where trucks compete side by side over a course of dirt ramps and obstacles. Then comes freestyle, where each driver has a set time to perform jumps and stunts, and judges score the run. The format makes every show a competition, not a demonstration.

A roster of named trucks takes part, each with its own design and driver. The trucks vary in style, from classic designs to more recent builds, and the drivers are part of the appeal: the crowd follows the rivalries and the season standings as much as the machines.

The shows are built for a wide audience, including families with children, and the venues are set up so most seats have a clear view of the action. Between the noise of the engines, the scale of the trucks and the physical size of the jumps, a Monster Jam event is one of the loudest and most visual live shows in motorsport.
