Old Trafford, in Trafford on the south-west side of Manchester, holds around 74,000 and is the largest club football ground in the United Kingdom. Manchester United have played there since 1910, and the stands have been rebuilt and enlarged piece by piece since, which is why they differ in height and style.
The Sir Alex Ferguson Stand on the north side is the largest, with three tiers, and its upper levels give a high, complete view of the pitch. The Stretford End behind the west goal is the traditional home of the loudest support. The south side, the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand, is the oldest and lowest, with only a single tier. Visiting supporters are usually placed in a corner of the east end.
The older roofs sit low in places, so some rear seats in the lower tiers lose sight of high balls. Seats in the south stand are close to the pitch but low. If the full view matters, the upper tiers on the north side are the safer choice.
The Old Trafford tram stop, shared with the cricket ground, is about ten minutes' walk away, and Wharfside on another tram line is close to the other side of the ground. A small railway station beside the south stand serves some matchdays. Parking is mostly in private lots that charge on matchdays. PickStub is an independent marketplace and is not affiliated with the stadium or any club that plays there.
